Adventures

May has been a fabulous month so I thought it would be fitting to write a little bit about the adventures Matt and I have been on this month. One weekend this month Jason, Matt, and I were able to head to Mountain Home. We had a blast. Matt and Jason got into this show called, "Top Shot" and decided that once we got to Mountain Home we would have a 'Top Shot' shoot out. I thought it sounded like fun so Saturday the whole crew headed up to where their family has a cabin. Getting up to the cabin was more of an adventure than the actual top shot shoot out. There was still some snow on the road up to the cabin so every couple of feet the guys would have to help get the four wheelers through the snow and then get their own motorbikes across the snow as well. It was a fun adventure! After we got up to the cabin we enjoyed lunch and some shooting. I'm pretty sure that I won but I think Matt and Jason would put up a fight if they heard me say that. :) We rode around for a little bit and then headed back to the house. It was such a fun day. I'm so glad that we were able to enjoy the fresh air and all spend time together. The next day we were able to go to a baby blessing. Matt's cousin Jenn had a precious baby boy and we were able to be there for his blessing. After the blessing we were able to go spend time with family and enjoy each other's company.  It was such a fabulous weekend.

That was such a great adventure and it leads us into our next adventure....

My brother Justin and his wife Wendy had a baby on May 1 and all month I was so excited to meet our newest nephew. The weekend after we went to Mountain Home we went to Utah and had another fabulous adventure. We got there on Friday and picked up our wedding picture which was exciting because we got to look at them all weekend long. After that we went to Allison's house and went to Lonestar Taqueria and it was delicious. We were able to spend some time with Allison which was so fun because I had been missing her and the rest of my family a lot! We went to Anna's where she spoiled us with tasty cinnamon swirl pancakes for breakfast. After being lazy for a while Matt and I headed down to Provo to meet the newest member of the King family, Cooper James. He is the cutest thing ever. It was fun to see Justin and Wendy and hold that sweet little infant in my arms. Justin and Wendy are already awesome parents and I am so happy for them. After playing with Cooper for a bit we all headed to the baseball game where we met Allison, Anna, and my other adorable niece and nephews. I love going to the BYU baseball games and it was fun to be together. After the game we went up into the canyon to roast hotdogs and make smores and have cotton candy thanks to my brother in-law, Jake. It was so much fun just relaxing and being together. It was fun to watch the little kids play, throw the boomerang, and hold my tiny nephew. This was such a great adventure and I'm so grateful for my family. Matt and I are so blessed to come from such wonderful families. I love his family and my family so much and I am looking forward to many more adventures!
p.s. Thank you Justin and Wendy for having such an adorable baby! :)

More adventures to come :)

I love May

I have to start this post by first saying that I love May. It's the real start of spring here in Rexburg and this past week has been beautiful. I first have to tell a little bit about my birthday. I woke up on my birthday and my wonderful hubby was so excited that it was my birthday, but he lovingly told me to go back to sleep since I didn't have to be up at the time he left for work. I reset my alarm and got up about an hour later. I did all of my homework the day before so I could just enjoy the day. I got up and watched an episode of Army Wives while I painted my nails. When my dad was deployed my mom and I used to watch that show all of the time but I had never seen the first couple of seasons so I decided to just watch the first episode and it was so relaxing. Matt called me in the morning and told me happy birthday again and told me to be home at 12:30. I was so confused and my best friend Alyssa was going to go out to lunch with me for my birthday. I called Alyssa and told her that our lunch plans would have to change a little bit, but it turned out being great. After I got out of class at 12:15 me and Alyssa walked to my apartment and we ordered pizza. It was so fun to hang out with her on my birthday and just do what best friends do. I love that girl! It took forever for our pizza to show up but it finally did and we enjoyed eating. Around 1:30 there was a knock on the door and flowers were delivered to me. Not were they any flowers they were my favorite flowers, sunflowers. There was a little note from Matt and it totally made my day. I knew he felt bad he couldn't be with me on my birthday but it was so thoughtful of him to have flowers sent to me. After that, Alyssa and I walked back to campus because we both had class and then after class I came home and I was able to talk to my mom on the phone and to my other best friend Joanna who is down in Utah. I haven't had a chance to talk to Joanna since she came up for my wedding so it was so good to finally get to talk. It was such a lovely day. After that I was able to get ready to go out for dinner because Matt would be home any minute. When he came through the door he brought in the bookshelf he made for me! I felt so bad because the night before he was out until 10:30 and he told me he was helping one of his buddies and I was sad because I didn't see him all day and I was a bit grumpy because he told me he wouldn't be gone long. I felt so horrible but then so grateful that he had worked so hard to make my birthday special. I've never had a gift like that, and I am so excited that we get to paint it together. It was so thoughtful of him, and I'm so grateful for him, he is the best. We went to Olive Garden for dinner and then came home to have cookies and ice cream. It was such a wonderful day thanks to so many people in my life who tried hard to make it special, especially my wonderful hubby. I love him so much. I have to say it was the best birthday I have ever had.

One Month

I thought it would be appropriate to write a little note since today Matt and I have been married for one month today. This has been the best month ever and I thought I would document how our wedding day was a month ago....so here is the story...

April 7, 2012

Saturday morning, my mom, Allison, Anna, Wendy, and myself traveled from Idaho Falls to Rexburg so that I could go get my nails done. The people from the day before had fallen through but we luckily found someone who would meet us at 7:30 to get my nails done. Well...she didn't show up. Wendy had her iphone so she quickly started looking up nail places that were open this early and luckily we found that Evan's the hair school was open so we headed over there. We were in a bit of a rush since Matt's family was having a breakfast at Frontier Pie's at 9:00. The hair school came to our rescue and there was one girl working on each of my hands so I could get my nails finished in time of the breakfast. Since it was going to take a while, my sisters and mom decided to get their nails done too. Unfortunately it took a lot longer than expected and I was running about 30-45 mins late to the breakfast. Luckily when I got there everyone was all smiles and eating breakfast. It was decorated so cute and I was so happy to see everyone. It was fun to have all of the immediate family members together and enjoy breakfast before we got married. After quickly eating breakfast, me, Allison, and my mom headed over to Chelsea's house. Chelsea quickly got started on my hair and make-up. She made punch and was so excited for me. I felt like such a princess having the crew work on me for my wedding. My mom painted my toe-nails while Allison shaped up my eyebrows and Chelsea worked on hair and make up. Getting ready took longer than any of us expected. I was supposed to be at the temple at 1:00 but that didn't exactly go as planned. As 1:15 approached, I got a text from Matt saying, "Hey babe where ya at?" I texted him back quickly and told him I was on my way....well, I didn't get on my way for about another 10 minutes. Chelsea quickly finished up last minute touches and sent me on my way. I was literally putting on Sunday dress clothes as I was running out the door. I got to the temple around 1:30 which was when the guests start to arrive. Matt looked relieved to see me as I came running through the temple. I was a mess but the Temple Recorder pulled us into his office, finalized some details and gave me a second to calm down and told me everything was fine. My mom helped me get dressed and Matt and I headed up to the top floor of the temple to be sealed. My grandpa was able to be our sealer, and I was so grateful that he could be there for Matt and I. We received some great counsel from my grandpa for which I know both of us are grateful. The sealing was beautiful and I felt so happy to finally be married to my best friend. Everything happened so quickly, but as we headed down stairs I was so happy. As I stood in the Bride's room with my mom I couldn't help but feel so grateful for a temple marriage that seals us together forever. The blessings of the temple are so beautiful.

After the temple portion of the day Matt and I took pictures with our families and friends and then we took pictures together for about an hour. We then headed to our reception center that was decorated beautifully, with a cake and candy bar that was to die for! Everything turned out better than I have dreamed. We were so grateful that so many friends and family were able to make it out for our special day. By the end of the evening we both were exhausted. We headed up to the bride's room to sit down and relax for a second. My sister Anna found us and I think she knew how exhausted we were. We were able to announce that we were leaving and ran through a tunnel of friends to our car to head off to our honeymoon.

Everything was beautiful but the most beautiful part of it all was being sealed for time and all eternity to my best friend. I will never forget the feelings I felt on that day, and the best part is, my love for Matt grows stronger and deeper everyday and I'm so glad for the experiences we have shared together and for the things we have learned this past month. I love being married to my best friend and I am looking forward to many many more months and years together.

Newly Weds

I started this blog so that my family and friends could stay updated on what has been going on in our lives. To catch everyone up...Matt and I were married April 7, 2012 in the Rexburg LDS Temple. It was hands down the best day ever. For those who didn't know, we met in Chemistry class and everything has been "history" since. I love being married to my best friend. Matt is wonderful and I love him so much. One thing that I love about Matt is that he is so optimistic and happy, and such a hard worker. He is such a great example to me and I am so excited to spend eternity with him.

We started our first home together here in Rexburg. Matt is working this semester building potato cellars while I am a full time student. I am so grateful Matt has a job and helps provide for our little family. Being married to Matt is the best. I love being a little wifey and doing things for Matt and just being together. I am so excited for our life together and the adventures we will go on.
I am so grateful to be sealed to Matthew for time and all eternity...I couldn't imagine it any other way.
